To my dear visitor,

I am a long-time manager in a major corporation, venturing onto the Internet to provide information that I’ve studied over many years.

I’ve lived in different parts of the United States. I was born in the Washington DC area to a father who was an ambassador and a mother who was a singer/song writer.

Known in my early years by my first name, Barbara, I shed that for the slightly more sophisticated BJ when I moved to a new high school. It was not until more recently that I have claimed my middle name, Joy, because that is how I want to BE. So, it also feels comfortable to be known as Be Joy, B. Joy, and Bjoy.

I’ve lived a mostly joyful life, with challenges here and there to keep the path interesting. My joy can sometimes be equivalent to tenacity, but it is genuine and deep.

I have a wonderful husband, Bob, and three lovely grown children, Sarah, Robby, and Todd. They are all my teachers. In this blog, I’ll write about much of what I’ve learned from and through them.

What inspires me to write this blog? I have a deep love for humanity, with all our quirks and flaws. I appreciate the confusion that makes us look for clarity, the experiences that propel us into kindness, and the full range of differences that create the tapestry of life.
